Airbrush Artwork Lesson: People Come in the Strangest Colors!

An important aspect of airbrush artwork is to be able to see colors for what they truly are .... ... I know, I know ... I harp about color theory all the time! But you have to understand that when the colors are right the end result is SO MUCH BETTER! I thought to emphasize my point that I would put together a few examples ... Example 1: Flesh Tones at Their Finest OK... this woman is beautiful... and her...

    Airbrush Tutorials: Small, Manageable Bites!

Of all the airbrush tutorials - this is an important one... because rather than being about technique, it's about confidence! While the painting above looks really complicated and difficult, it was not terribly difficult to paint... all I had to do was break it down into smaller, more manageable parts... Part 1 First I came up with a plan ... and sketched it all out. Part 2 The I worked solely on the...

Fine Art Airbrush Lesson: Black and White Portrait

For this airbrush lesson I will show you how I painted the beautiful woman shown above. Step 1 Using an opaque projector, or some really good drawing skills, trace all the details of the reference photo onto your painting surface. Add as much detail as you have patience for. Black and White Airbrush Paintings in 10 Steps

The above is one of my airbrush paintings from quite a while ago - long before I started this website - so, I will apologize upfront and let you all know that not every step is shown. However, I think it still may be helpful to show you how I approach black and white portraits. (of course, there are a million ways to do this - there are no right or wrong ways - only the way that works for you! Remember this...

Have you used the Paasche AB turbo and the Iwata micron B and if so are there any points to watch out for. Ie; temperamental, finicky etc.
    Thanks for any info.

Hey Queezer. I haven’t used that particular paasche but I got to play with an Iwata micron…. it was NICE! You can get really nice hairlines with that one if you have the skill to keep your hand and trigger steady. Iwata’s aren’t finicky in general and Paasche are a really popular and I would feel comfortable assuming that they are well made and supported.

Airbrush Blocking Video

about 1 year ago - No comments

Using the airbrush blocking techniques is a great way to speed along an airbrush project. This video is a superb example of it… much better than my example. Basically, as you will see in the video, blocking is when you lay down the base colors of a painting with a paint brush and then tweak
